The Fall meeting of the Nature Photographers of the Pacific Northwest will take place on November 7-8, 2025.  Friday sessions will include photo field trips and an informal  social hour..  The Saturday session will be held at Clark College Gaiser Hall Auditorium in Vancouver, WA. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and the program begins at 10:00 a.m.  (This meeting will be a week later than usual, a step taken to avoid Halloween weekend.)

Our speaker for both the morning and afternoon sessions will be the outstanding ocean landscape photographer, Susan Dimock.

Susan Dimock is a Bandon, OR based photographer with a passion for photographing all things oceanic. A retired licensed clinical social worker, she describes her transition from therapist to nature photographer as an awakening that has brought healing, solace and joy. In the last decade-plus, Susan has published work digitally and presented many print exhibits. She has released her first book, Taking Refuge on the Oregon Coast, a photographic memoir that follows Susans discovery as a nature photographer and wildlife conservation advocate.

Susan's Presentations

Morning Presentation: Oceanscapes, Large and Small
Susan shares how shes learned to dig deep for unique and compelling images on her hometown beach of Bandon and surrounding areas. From icons to birds and tidal pools, Susan shares tips on learning to see beyond the obvious  to build a diverse, exciting portfolio, uniquely yours. She shares her process of choosing when and how she shoots and her admittedly simple processing procedures.

Afternoon Presentation: Developing Your Visual Voice
Using her personal experience with her recently published book, Taking Refuge on the Oregon Coast, Susan gives tips on how to use images, eco-empathy and words to add depth and breadth to your visual stories, both large and small.
